"Donna" was written and recorded by Ritchie Valens and was released in 1958 on Del-Fi Records. It was written as a tribute to Valen's high-school sweetheart Donna Ludwig. The song reached number two on the Billboard "Hot 100" chart in 1959 and has become a staple in the rock 'n' roll repertoire.
